The Olympics are Coming!



With all of the excitement building towards the 08-08-08 Olympics in Beijing, let's not overlook another kind of Olympic Games right in our own back-yard. The Doggie Olympic Games, held in Long Beach will kick off on June 21st at 12:00 Noon - Join them in support of a great cause!!

The Doggie Olympic Games is an annual event held to benefit the South Pacific County Humane Society & in support of their No-Kill Animal Shelter. Participants of any shape, size, breed, age or agility are encouraged to register. Events include:
  • Peanut Butter Lick - Who can empty the spoon of peanut butter the fastest?
  • Babe Ruth Obedience Baseball - Dogs complete a command at each base to score.
  • Who's your Daddy? - The pooch with the most interesting parentage wins.
  • Filla Fuller Brush Shedding - How much hair can you collect? Best shedder wins.
  • What, No Ducks? Ball Toss - A simple ball retreiving event.
  • Frisbee Throw - The dog with furthest catch wins.
  • Nadia Comaneci Agility - An informal agility event.
  • I've Got Rythm Musical Sit - Think musical chairs. For your dog.
  • Dunking for Dogs - The first to eat 5 pieces of hot dog wins.
  • Luciano Pavarotti Commemorative Sing Off
  • Doggie Dash - The 1st dog to reach its owner wins.
  • Rip Van Winkle Sleep Off - Who can lie still the longest?

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners at each competition. To register, visit the Doggie Olympic Games Website, or come in to LaDeDog! for a brochure.

That's great you got to participate!! I've seen some amazing photos & great feedback from the event. It's a wonderful fund-raiser...
